Updates on the upcoming year’s models are released from early to mid-August every year. Enthusiasts can count on this information however, TREK also releases details on new bicycles all year long. For instance, the announcement of Emonda-ALR which was released two years ago did not come out in the month August. In an event like this, it is likely that the said model would be on a brochure together with the following year’s models.
In the event that the current models sell more than what was projected, our distributor releases the next year’s models earlier and are thus called the “early summer models.”
TREK WORLD 2018 in JAPAN will be held on August 8th 2017. All upcoming models will be revealed on the said date. Our website will be showing you updates about them as well so stay tuned!
There are three ways that TREK Bikes are developed.
creation of new frame designs which are introduced as the front line models
developments on new assembly parts and components
new colors are introduced
It is known that even the in-house TREK staffs are not updated in advance regarding the model changes. The information is usually disseminated among the staffs the morning before new models are released to the public. However, you can project their releases if you possess a high expertise in bicycle trade and TREK’s history.
The following is our projection with a focus on road bikes.
Let us trace the model changes in the history of TREK. Announcement of the release of Domane and the model change of Madone were in 2013, model change of Speed Concept was in 2014, announcement of the release of Emonda was in 2015, model change of Madone and the announcement of release of Emonda Aluminum Series in 2016, and the model change of Domane in 2017. In this order, we can guess that the next would be the year for Speed Concept. It is possible that there may be no changes in the coming year.
New ULTEGRA(R-8000 series / Di2 / Disc) has been announced officially from SHIMANO, so IT is settled that new ULTEGA will be installed in 2018 model of Emonda, Madone, and Domane will be installed.

TREK is a US brand, Prices are decided in Japan by TREK Japan, and sell TREK bikes through retailers. So if Japanese yen is strong, the price decreases; and if yen is weak, the price increases.
※a vertical line in this chart shows early May last year, a horizontal line shows dollars-yen-rate on early May this year.
The exchange rate was 105 yen for one dollar early-May a year ago, and Japanese yen became stronger till October. Our distributor would have decided the bike prices during this term so the price of the upcoming year’s model would be higher than the current models’. On the other hand, the “early summer models” would have retained their prices or possibly more reasonable if there were plans on introducing them, because TREK Japan decided on the prices in May or earlier and at that time, the Japanese yen was not so strong.
It is also an important factor for TREK to take into account the balance between other competing brands. Following the chart, we can say that purchasing the current model may be better than waiting on upcoming models.
We will update this page as soon as we get the official information so please look forward to it!
